Chocolate – Personal Inquiry

For our personal Inquiry we had to pick anything we wanted to do an oral presentation on, so I chose CHOCOLATE. I chose this because I was eating Chocolate at the time and because I love it.   Polkadottii Out

Side Show Alley

At school once every 2 years we have a side show alley. At the side show alley we go around to different stalls and play the games that are at the stall.

My class made Sports Splash, Pin the Tail on the Animals,Balloon Race and .The most played game was Sports Splash.

My job was with CHANEL LOVER on the Balloon Race at that stall you would have to run around the course with a balloon.

My highlight of the day would have to be the end of it because it wasn’t as fun as the other years.

Science (Jupiter)

In our homework grid we were asked to write a post about one of the planets we have been learning about I’m going to write about Jupiter.

Jupiter is the largest planet it was named after the Roman god Zeus, It’s said that if the Sun should stop giving us light that then Jupiter should be able to become the next Sun  if that happens then Earth would probably die because Earth is right next to to Jupiter. Jupiter is 483.78 million miles away from the sun.  Jupiter was formed by Nebula. Nebula being  vast clouds that are made up of mostly hydrogen gas and other elements. Jupiter has a large red spot on it the Spot is called The Red Spot, not a very fancy name but it spins in a counter clockwise direction while Jupiter spins in a clockwise direction. Jupiter has 64  moons, Jupiter’s mass is 2.5 times of all the planets in our solar system put together. Jupiters outer layer is mostly made out of liquid hydrogen.

William Darling

This small book is about a boy called a boy called William but his old fashion dad is calling him William Darling until he buys very expensive clothing.

The best thing about this book is that his dad is VERY VERY old fashioned.

You might like this book if you also enjoyed  weird, short stories and stories that you can read in your spare time .

A good place to read this book would be in a hammock or a cosy room with lots of cushions.

If this book had a soundtrack, it would be ‘The Boy Does Nothing’ by Alesha Dixon.

Inquiry (week 2 & 3)

For homework we had to answer the question in the following sentence; Many individuals and/or groups have made significant contributions to the development of Australian society in the areas of economy, education, science, arts & sport. Who do you think has done this ?

I think it was CSIRO (science) because they let us study deeper into science, The government  because they make some decisions for us, teachers because they teach us things, Miners they dig up minerals for us to make metal for us to use.

We also had to ask our parents that same question and this is what my mum said, Kathy Freeman because she let us know not to stop doing something when you are scared or someone tells you to stop,Kevin Rudd because he took responsibility to apologise to the aboriginal community. Another person would be Steve Erwin he contributed to the nature by looking after animals, Greg Clarke and his team for putting together the Adelaide fringe and love  for the arts.

Breaking News, Worlds Oldest eye Found in Fossil

We had to type a post about one of the latest news report. Mine was the worlds oldest eye found in fossil and here it is.

The world’s oldest complex eye has been found in 515-million-year-old fossils from Kangaroo Island, off the coast of South Australia. It was found by accident.
University of South Australia paleontologist Dr Jim Jago said he was surprised to find such complex eyes, they were like eyes in living insects.
“It was by accident, to be honest I was cataloging another fossil and just happened to notice this blob. It looked like an eye … but looked a bit complex for an eye of that age.” Dr Jim Jago
He showed the fossil to South Australian Museum palaeontologist, Dr Jim Gehling, and they decided to look out for more. Now there are six of these fossil eyes in the Emu Bay collection.
“That’s how a lot of discoveries work,” Dr Jago said. “It’s often accidental, penicillin was another fossil and that was found accidentally. If you recognise what it is, you can keep your eyes open for the same thing and you might find it again.”
The detached eyes probably belonged to a large shrimp-like animal that lived alongside trilobites, armored worms and large swimming predators in the early Cambrian period.
